Steps to Google Analytics 4 WooCommerce Integration

Step 1: Log in to Google Analytics Account

  • Login to your Google Analytics account here.
  • Select the Analytics Account and Property with which you want to perform Google Analytics 4 WooCommerce Integration. 
  • Now, click on “Admin located at the bottom-left of the screen on the side navigation.
  • Here you can select Accounts and Property. So do check again if it’s the one you wanted.
  • Check in the Property column whether it’s showing “Setup Assistant” or “GA4 Setup Assistant”, as shown in the image below.

  • In case it shows “Setup Assistant”, then the GA4 tracking ID or Measurement ID is already generated and you can directly skip to Step 3.
  • If it shows “GA4 Setup Assistant”, then let’s set up and generate Measurement ID.

Step 2: Setting Up GA4 Setup Assistant

  • Select the “GA4 Setup Assistant” option in the Property column.
  • Now, click on the “Get Started” button in the first section of the page, as shown in the image below.

  • A new pop-up will ask to create a new Google Analytics 4 Property. Click on the blue “Create Property” button, shown in the image below.

  • Now, You have Successfully connected Google Analytics properties. Click on the “See you GA4 property” button, as shown in the image below.

Step 3: Getting the GA4 Measurement ID

  • If you have followed Step 2 then, click on the “Tag Installation” option. Else, select the “Setup Assistant” option from the Property column and choose the “Tag Installation option, as shown in the image below.

  • Here, click on the Add Stream” button if you don’t have any stream in the ”All” or ”Web” tab.
  • Now, click on the next arrow button of the Data Stream, shown in the image below.

  • Web Streams details will open where you can get the Measurement ID. 
  • Now, copy the Measurement ID located on the top right-hand side of the screen, as shown in the image below.

Step 4: Connecting Google Analytics 4 and WooCommerce

  • Login to your WordPress account here.
  • Click on the ”WooCommerce” option in the side navigation bar, as shown in the image below.

  • It will open WooCommerce settings. Here choose the ”Integration tab, as shown in the image below.

  • Now, click on the ”Google Analytics” option, shown in the image below.

  • Now, paste the copied Measurement ID to the text field of ”Google Analytics ID” to Google Analytics 4 WooCommerce Integration, shown in the image below.

  • Now, fill the text field of ”Set Domain Name” to your website name. Although, it’s an optional field because the WooCommerce plugin automatically fetches this data.
  • Move to the ”Tracking Options” section, where you can see few additional settings related to Google Analytics 4 WooCommerce. 
  • Check the ”Enable Standard Tracking” to track the session data on demographics, user behavior, etc.
  • Check ”Display Advertising Support” so that Google Analytics 4 WooCommerce code can support Display Advertising features on your website.
  • Check ”Use Enhanced Link Attribution” to allow Google Analytics to differentiate between identical links to the same page.
