In today’s world, all healthcare organizations need access to technology. That’s where RXNT steps in. RXNT is a SaaS solution for medical healthcare providers, simplifying the workflow for all healthcare organizations. The company offers the tools to run your practice smoothly, from medical billing and health electronic records to electronic prescribing. The software streamlines administrative tasks like appointment scheduling, billing insurance companies, creating patient reports, etc, empowering medical professionals to deliver better care.
The real magic of RXNT lies in its ability to transform data into dynamic reports on revenue, billing, and patient demographics. These reports track necessary KPIs and insights for customers, business heads, and marketing professionals. Moreover, the client reports are refreshed as often as every hour. That’s why delay-free data transfer operations are so crucial for RXNT.
Surprisingly, a lean team of just two individuals handles all of RXNT's data analytics operations. At the centre of it is Julian Glenesk (Senior Analytics Engineer), who, as he describes aptly, does everything related to data at RXNT. This team is responsible for managing the company’s ELT pipelines, reporting and analytics, and warehouse management.
RXNT’s Current Data Stack
RXNT’s current data stack is carefully designed to support a comprehensive list of sources from which data is ingested into BigQuery. RXNT uses Hevo for data replication because it supports a variety of sources, such as Azure SQL Server, Cosmos DB, HubSpot, Stripe, and Google Analytics. The data is then transformed and prepared for use with DBT.
The cleaned and prepared data is primarily used to generate customer-facing and executive reports. Customer-facing reports help healthcare organizations track patient follow-ups, billing cycles, and insurance claims, enabling them to make data-driven decisions. On the other hand, RXNT's Leadership uses executive reports to monitor company growth and understand customer segments, churn rate, revenue, and other critical business metrics.
How has the data stack evolved?
While their current data stack setup with Hevo is mature and efficiently manages data flow, it wasn’t always this way—the company’s initial data infrastructure was on-prem. They didn’t move data since reports were connected directly to the production database, which required extensive developer bandwidth to accommodate any minor changes in data. To address this, they realized the need for a modern ELT solution.
They first experimented with Stitch to move data from various sources to BigQuery. Since Stitch could not comply with HIPAA regulations, confirm BAA agreements, and increase data reliability issues as data volumes grew, RXNT decided it was high time to move on. So, after evaluating top ELT tools, they replaced Stitch with Hevo Data.
Eventually, they enhanced their data ecosystem using modern tools like Hevo Data to load data from various sources to BigQuery, DBT to transform data in the warehouse, and Tableau & Luzmo to create visual reports and dashboards.
RXNT’s Journey to Discover the Best ELT Tool
RXNT had precise non-negotiable requirements in mind for finalising an ELT solution:
Data privacy: HIPAA compliance was crucial for protecting sensitive patient data. It helps build trust among health organizations and prevents data breaches.
Sources: The ELT solution should support all required data sources for seamless data replication
Reliability: RXNT handles critical data like billing information. Missing even a single row leads to inaccurate financials, so reliability was an important requirement.
Cost: Getting all the above requirements at a cost-efficient price was also really important for RXNT
Having evaluated multiple tools like Fivetran, Airbyte, Matillion, etc, they eventually decided on Hevo Data as it checked out all the boxes:
Hevo checked the boxes for everything we need: 100% reliability, HIPAA compliance, and support for a wide range of data sources—all while being cost-efficient compared to its offerings.
Hevo Data’s Impact on RXNT’s Business
Hevo has had sizeable impact on RXNT's operations post implementation:
With Hevo, the team can save immensely on costs and person-hours. Dozens of developer hours are saved every month, adding up to 144 developer hours a year. That’s a massive cut in the company's operational costs.
The next big win for RXNT is zero downtime with Hevo. Hevo allows continuous data ingestion without interruptions, even during system updates or changes.
RXNT saw a 20% decrease in churn rate compared to previous years, thanks to Hevo's help in focusing on reasons for churn and minimizing product bugs/disruptions.
With Hevo, we don't have any extract and load issues. We might get a notification once in a while about failed events. And then we just reload, and we don't have to do anything to fix it, which is amazing
RXNT’s coming priorities
The company’s next big focus is on marketing data. Their marketing team is quite solid and effectively utilizes tools like HubSpot and Google Analytics. However, the goal is to streamline the integration of Google Analytics insights and other marketing data across various platforms.
Moreover, the company wants to invest in real-time data streaming capabilities and deep dive into product usage analytics to identify top features. They see collaboration with Hevo as critical to making data streaming and marketing data integration more efficient.
